Community-led action for healthier, safer and more resilient informal settlements
The Slum Participatory Empowerment Initiative (SLUMPACT) is a not-for-profit organisation in slums through empowering and informal participatory interventions, local people living settlements action, practical leadership and strong partnerships.
Why this work matters

Rapid urban growth, poor housing, unsafe water, weak sanitation, overcrowding, pollution and climate stress
are placing residents of informal settlements under growing pressure. These challenges affect health, safety, dignity and opportunity.
What we do

We co-create programmes and research-informed action
across four connected pillars: healthier communities, safer homes and neighborhoods, stronger livelihoods, and climate-smart local solutions.
How we work

Our model begins with listening, mapping and community priority setting
From there, we move into co-design, piloting, learning and scale. Communities help define the problem, shape the response and judge whether it's working.
SlumPACT builds on field learning from climate and health work in Nigeria, including lessons from the C2REST Nigeria Study and related research on respiratory health, climate risk and living conditions in vulnerable communities.
